Affiliate Summit

I spent a bit hanging out at the Moniker domain auction last night. Here are the results.

I made sure to cover at least some of this event, so I stopped by for the first hour or so. Having been my first domain auction, I didn’t know what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised at how fun it was. The auctioneer was precise and funny, and the “action” either in the seats live or on the phones from off-site bidders was fun to watch.

However, I’m hearing that the results weren’t as good as previous shows? By that I mean, they didn’t sell enough or a lot? Is that because of affiliate marketers are savvy (code word for cheap)? Or because the inventory wasn’t as good as previous auctions?

I have to tell you, I saw a lot of amazing domains in the list that I thought would go. Student.com? Passed, nobody bid. Then I see that BadBoys.com sold for $45k? Now I realize why I’m not in the business. I would never have valued that that high.
