Matthew P. Schaefer

Matthew P. Schaefer is a partner with the law firm of Brann & Isaacson in Lewiston, Maine, whose practice focuses on state tax matters and commercial litigation in proceedings throughout the United States. Matt is co-counsel, along with with George S. Isaacson, for the Performance Marketing Association in the lawsuit brought by the PMA in Illinois challenging the constitutionality of the new Illinois affiliate nexus law, and for the Direct Marketing Association in a lawsuit brought in federal court in Denver challenging a 2010 Colorado law that imposes notice and reporting obligations on remote sellers. Matt regularly advises clients on a range of legal issues affecting businesses engaged in electronic commerce, including nexus, corporate taxes, privacy, FTC compliance and direct mail issues.
