1. Affiliate Summit 2006 East Recap

The three days in Orlando for Affiliate Summit are over. We're sleep deprived, business cards stuff our pockets, and there is a lot to catch up on. But the net net of it all is that we met a lot of great people and there is now a bunch of new business to be done.

But first things first - some things for you to read.

A brief scan brought up a number of places with recaps of Affiliate Summit, including the 5 Star Affiliate Marketing Blog, Google News, Jangro.com, ReveNews, and Revenue Magazine.

We'll post more reviews of Affiliate Summit in our blog as we find them.

2. Share Your Feedback from Orlando

Now that Affiliate Summit 2006 East is one for the books, we are working on the next show, taking place January 21-23, 2007 at Bally's Las Vegas.

Our goal is to make each successive show better than the last, and we can only do that if you tell us where we went right and where we went wrong.

3. Tim Storm is an Affiliate Marketing Legend

Tim Storm was honored with the Wayne Porter Affiliate Marketing Legend Award. This was the second time the award was given, and its purpose is to recognize individuals in affiliate marketing who have distinguished themselves as leaders and innovators.

Wayne Porter was presented the inaugural award in January 2006, and subsequently his name was added.

Porter bestowed his namesake award to Tim Storm following the keynote address by Jim Bouton at Affiliate Summit 2006 East in Orlando.

"Tim Storm continues to innovate in the field of marketing both technically and through the creation of fandom and community," commented Wayne Porter, Co-Founder of Revenews.com.

"He places a firm emphasis on his employee's welfare as well as his site visitors. Because of his vision and leadership FatWallet.com continues to grow at an outstanding rate," continued Porter.

The award will be bestowed upon additional players in the affiliate marketing space at future Affiliate Summit events.

Tim Storm was recognized on the second day of Affiliate Summit 2006 East because of his inspirational story and impact on the affiliate marketing world dating back to the 1990's. Storm is the owner, founder and Chief Mucky Muck of FatWallet.com, an online community and shopping resource.

Tim Storm started up FatWallet.com in 1999 as a one page listing of coupons for a handful of retailers. With the addition of a Hot Deals forum, FatWallet.com began building a community of savvy shoppers.

5. Important and Interesting Stuff from the Last Show

Jim Bouton was a big hit as the keynote speaker at Affiliate Summit. I would encourage you to pick up his book, Ball Four, if you haven't already read it.

As you may have noticed, we had a photo and video crew recording the whole show. We'll be sharing links with this content when it is ready. Please note - we have a correction on an announcement during the closing comments of the conference. The video is not being sent out as a DVD - we are looking at different delivery methods and the videos will be available as a download and/or streaming online.

With the end of the show, that doesn't mean the Affiliate Summit Social Network closes down. Get back in there and continue to make business happen.

On a housekeeping note, I noticed that when Missy would bring her new baby, Chase, to various booths on the exhibit floor, the traffic for the booths would go up by about 300%. We are looking into the possibility to rent Booth Babies for the next show, pending child labor laws and other red tape. Stay tuned.
