1. Back from ad:tech NYC 2007

I’m catching up now from a whirlwind three days at ad:tech NYC 2007. This was one gigantic monster of a conference. I heard various figures from people on the attendance, but the average tended to be around 10,000 folks registered.

There were three floors of booths packed in at the Hilton New York - so many that I didn’t come close to seeing all of them.

But I had an excuse. I was camped out at the Affiliate Summit booth for a good part of the time.

Big thanks to everybody who came by - it was great to spend some time with so many folks that have come to past Affiliate Summits, as well as those who just learned about the conference during ad:tech.

It’s always great to catch up with folks I haven’t seen in a while. For instance, I caught up briefly with SEO kingpin Kevin Lee today, and he mentioned that he just had a new book published: The Eyes Have It.

Time to pick up a copy. The subtitle is “How to Market in an Age of Divergent Consumers, Media Chaos and Advertising Anarchy.” Sounds interesting - congrats, Kevin.

Here’s a shot of me with the famed infomercial star Matthew Lesko near our booth…

It was a great time for networking, and I’m sad to see it end. Lots of folks were hopping plans to go from ad:tech to Blog World Expo, but I need to get back to things here.

I’ll be following the action from Vegas via Twitter, so keep the stories coming Brian Littleton, Sam Harrelson, Jim Kukral, Missy Ward, and others out there.

See some other pictures from ad:tech.

3. Azoogle Settles for $1,000,000 with Florida Attorney General

I received an e-mail today pointing me to a thread on the Digital Point forum (since removed from the forum for some reason) with the title, “Azoogle settles for $1mm.”

That post refers to a news release, Attorney General McCollum Unveils New Cyberfraud Task Force

Attorney General Bill McCollum today unveiled a sophisticated team to combat internet-related fraud and simultaneously announced the first agreement reached by the newly-created CyberFraud Task Force. The task force, which takes action against companies who defraud consumers online, is part of the Attorney General’s efforts to make the internet safer for Florida consumers. Housed in the Attorney General’s Economic Crimes Division, the task force today reached a $1 million agreement with internet marketer Azoogle (Azoogleads US Inc.), a New York company that creates and manages internet marketing of cell phone products.

The agreement with Azoogle is in regards to Case No. L07-3-1044 from March 2007.

5. Affiliate Summit Blog Ads for $1

The Affiliate Summit blog has added a new ad opportunity on the top, right. It’s the ScratchBack TopSpots widget, a project from Jim Kukral.

The purpose of the widget is to be able to leave a tip at blogs you enjoy.

But this tip brings a return to you. You get a short text link - it’s nofollow, so it won’t cause any hassle with Google.

Anyhow, the price for this tips for links opportunities is $1. The tricky part is that it’s sort of a game.

Whenever somebody leaves a tip, they go to the top of the 5 links, and everybody else gets bumped down.
